This wasn't the case 20 plus years ago. Both Dad worked at the same company for 36 years. My Mom 18 years. That's how things worked. Job hoping used to indicate that you were not a good employee.

Now though it's almost impossible to look at the LinkedIn in profiles of my friends and even see the company we worked at together 10 years ago without having to click the 'see more' link to show more jobs.

In just about every vertical market now people switch jobs roughly every two years. Very few people rise up through a company anymore. It's pretty interesting.
